There seems to be lots of questions and complaints coming in regarding ice slots, so I thought I should just throw out some points that might give everyone a better understanding of how things are going...

1. Playoff games are booked in the order the requests are received, not dependant on a teams standings or division. Other than some elite games, they may receive precedence on the arenas but you will not be completely bumped for them.

2. At this point exhibition games will only be given out 4 or less days prior to the day you wish to play. For anyone who was lucky enough to book exhibition ice before I realized how many requests for playoff ice I would be getting, be aware that if your slot is needed for a playoff game you will be required to cancel the exhibition game.

3. Playoff games need to be booked Friday-Sunday when possible, I realize sometimes that is impossible and as most of you know I will do my best to rearrange the schedule to fit you in. If you do require a game during the week you will most likely be required to give up one evening practice slot that week as well.

4. If you book tentative playoff slots, please get back to me ASAP when you know you won't be using them. This will help all the other teams waiting for a time slot.

5. With some teams seasons coming to a wrap in the coming weeks, please make sure I am informed when your teams are done so I can adjust the practice schedule accordingly.

6. Please be prepared for changes to the practice schedules, some changes with very little notice, same as previous years with playoff games there are some last minute games that will have to be fit in. I have made every effort so far to cancel as few slots as possible but sometimes I have no other options. And I also have been and will continue to give as much notice as possible. In a situation that a practice slot needs to be canceled for any reason it will most likely be a team/division that is not playing in playoffs that loses their time (this is same as previous seasons), but I will continue to try to keep the cancelations to a minimum. Note to the atoms... thanks for your patience with this, you have by far had the most adjustments to date! (before anyone can get excited about why atoms have had more... it is because atoms are able to share ice slots if necessary, so I have doubled them up not canceled them)

7. There is only so much ice available to us, I check every avenue possible before declining a request for ice. Including checking with the city for any additional ice that might be sitting available.

My schedules have basically been changing on a daily basis for the last few weeks and overall, most teams have been very understanding of all the inconveniences due to the high number of requests and changes. I just wanted to send this out to help everyone understand the situation we are in with the bookings right now due to playoffs and hopefully reduce the number of complaints coming to division directors, division ice coordinators or team managers.

Thanks!  and Good luck to all the teams in playoffs!

Process for requesting ice slots:

Initiation, Novice & Atom - All bookings must go through the director or a specified division ice coordinator.

Peewee, Bantam & Midget - All bookings regarding practices must go through the director or specified division ice coordinator. Bookings regarding game slots can go directly to Tim.

Elite - All bookings can go directly to Tim

* For any teams contacting Tim directly please have one consistent representative from each team and please make the subject line very descriptive making sure to include the team name.

* The City of Lloydminster will accept no bookings for Minor hockey from directors, coaches or managers; Tim and the Executive Board members are the only ones who should be contacting the City regarding bookings.

Cancellations / Changes:

All cancellations must be into Tim 7 days prior to the scheduled booking. Cancelled ice will no longer be turned back into the City every time there have a cancellation so we need time to fill it with other teams.

Schedules:

The attempt is to have ice out 2 months at a time. The schedule is sent out to the directors to divide up the slots amongst the teams in their division. If any teams have problems with their practice slots please contact your division director.

Once the schedule is up on the website use it as the master schedule please do not use the City of Lloydminster website.

The schedules will be out as far in advance as possible but please make an effort each week to double check the weekend ice on the Monday before. Mistakes do happen and this will prevent chaos on Friday evening.
